Fu Pao Mary (虎豹瑪莉) is a zine founded by five photographers, Alexander Fung, Antony Kwan, Raby Chan, Paul Yeung and Peter Wong. The release of the special issue Hair (毛) follows the three previous issues. The five photographers offer their interpretations on the theme of hair and create an impactful storytelling.
The cover recreated the cross-section of hair and the skin, conveying the meaning that "all things in the world arise from existence, and existence arises from hair." Fragmented, inconspicuous things like hair grow in a "world" that the human eye can not see, but under the view of a microscope, there is a world.
The name of the zine, Fu Pao Mary(虎豹瑪莉) originated with an east-meet-west vibe, the bright red on silver paper, vintage-looking type design, and repetitive patterned layout also highlight the bold, boundary-pushing quality of the five photographers.
